FEATURED CAMPS

Art - Monotype Printmaking
250.00

Grades: 3-6
Most art is the product of one, but printmaking allows artists to make multiple versions of their work. During this class we will use the monotype printing technique. The monotype is used by artists, Degas as an example, as a transition for other work. A monotype is printed, then an image is developed by drawing and painting over it with pastels, pencils, oil paint, watercolors or printing ink. Monotypes are created by manually adding and removing ink from a piece of glass or printing plate. Many effects can be achieved in monotypes that are not possible with other techniques. Students will learn how to apply ink or paint to the plate, press the paper and transfer the image. Each artist will compile their completed pieces into a printmaking portfolio which will showcase their work from the week.
