Parish Summer offers a variety of STEM camps throughout the summer for various age groups and experience levels. STEM camps include coding, building, LEGO robotics, science and game design.
Special Program - Summer Science Research
Participation in a science research program is an excellent way for upper school students to build and distinguish their résumés for college admission. Students will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing Parish Upper School science research projects, or they may choose to create a new project. The end result is a research poster and possibly an article to submit to high school science research journals. The summer research program is tailored to each student, and the duration and intensity is available in three options including two, four and eight week commitments.
Students will work with Tracie Román, who has an undergraduate degree in chemistry and master’s degrees in both bioanalytical chemistry and molecular biology. She has worked in research laboratories at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, UT Southwestern’s department of Biophysics, the University of Virginia, the Medical University of South Carolina and Furman University. Ms. Román has presented her research at the National American Chemical Society and Biophysics Society meetings, and she is a contributing author of a research journal article published in Science magazine.
Instructor: Tracie Román, Parish Episcopal School
Dates: 2 week Research Assistant, 4 week Research Apprentice, 8 week Research Associate
Times: 3 hours per day* / 5 days per week
Please Note: The cost above should be considered a base price as supply fees and other related expenses will be added once they are determined for the chosen project. Projects could take more or less time depending on the subject matter. If you are interested in this class, please first email Ms. Román at email@example.com to discuss your potential project.
