Science - Summer Research Program

Science - Summer Research Program

from 500.00

Grades: 9-12 Participation in a science research program is an excellent way for upper school students to build and distinguish their resumes for college admission. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing Parish upper school science research projects, or they may choose to establish a new project. The end result is a research poster and possibly an article to submit to high school science research journals. Students will work with Tracie Román, who has an undergraduate degree in chemistry and master’s degrees in both bioanalytical chemistry and molecular biology. She has worked in research laboratories at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, UT Southwestern’s department of biophysics, the University of Virginia, the Medical University of South Carolina and Furman University. Ms. Román also has presented her research at the National American Chemical Society and Biophysics Society meetings, and she is a contributing author to a research journal article published in Science magazine. The summer research program is tailored for each student, and the duration and intensity is available in three options including two, four and eight week commitments.
