Digging History: Archaeology Camp*

Digging History: Archaeology Camp*

Grades: 3-6

Does your child like solving puzzles? How about digging in the dirt? Then maybe he or she should be an archaeologist! This camp gives students the opportunity to learn from expert archaeologist and resident Latin teacher, Ann Morgan, about the science and excitement of excavation. During this week-long camp students will conduct aerial drone surveys, dig for artifacts, develop their documentation skills (measuring, drawing, photographing) and practice conservation. Finally, campers will take their data and work together to piece together a story about the past lives they have uncovered. This camp is also offered during weeks 5 and 7, and each week features a different historical context such as a Roman house, a Greek athletics venue or a Roman military fort.
