Early Wheels Community Service Camp

Early Wheels Community Service Camp

Grades: 8-12

Learn design thinking, coding/programming, fabrication and electronic skills all while giving back! GoBabyGo is a national program that makes unique modifications to toy cars for children with disabilities. The goal is to give these children the freedom and fun that comes from mobility. At this camp, participants will meet the families and the children through the non-profit Early Wheels and will then custom “hack” ride-on power toys suited to each child. In the process, every camper will learn about the design thinking process while gaining skills necessary to adapt the steering, circuitry and seating of the vehicles. On Friday, the families will join us to see what the campers have created and their children will test drive their new wheels! Ninth and 10th grade students will earn their required 15 community service hours for this camp, and 11th and 12th grade students will earn hours that can be applied toward the Presidential Service Award.
